"Reggae Up ~ 40 Classic Reggae Cuts" mainly contains reggae music from the seventies and eighties, delivered by top reggae acts as well as some lesser known artists from the U.K. and Jamaica. You'll find mainstream reggae hits like Barry Biggs' "Side Show", a top 3 hit in 1977, "Mad About You", a top 10 hit in 1972 for Bruce Ruffin and Sophia George's top 10 hit in 1985 "Girlie Girlie" alongside recognized hitmakers like Gregory Isaacs, Dennis Brown, John Holt and Freddie McGregor who are not represented by their biggest hit successes, but nevertheless deliver a nice contribution as well. Although this set doesn't include that many real reggae classics it's certainly a nice an enjoyable album for a broad audience.
