The UK based Tanty Records, who released some well-received dub albums, unleashes the third installment in their 'Roots of Dub Funk' series, subtitled 'The Dub Adventure'. The album compiler is Kelvin R. of the Dub Funk Association, a band comprising Russell (Disciples) Brown, Part 2, Trevor (Technician) McKenzie, Dave Hendry, Daniel (The Interrupttor) Bosshard and Kelvin.R.
The sampler offers the listener some twelve tracks of fresh, yet deep sounding dub expeditions led by heavyweight dubheads out of the UK, France, Germany and the US. Always following the spiritual trail of Lee Perry, King Tubby and Errol T. Kelvin R. offers the listener a crossection (if possible..) of todays' dub music.
From the US he brings you three productions, the first being The Version City Rockers with the magnificent tune Deeper Roots, but Burning Babylon certainly knows how to revive King Jammy's late 70s dubbing style with Living Soul Dub. Ras Shaggai is the third US exponent which definitely makes a fine impression. Germany based DJ Perch in combination with Rudy Lee delivers a good rootical tune (vocals included here...).
The album opens with a hypnotical killer tune called Spirit World Dub brought to you by Brain Damage in cooperation with Tena Stelin, one of the UK's most underrated roots singers. A MUST check out track !
Two tracks here by Alpha and Omega. First there's the tantalizing Jerusalem and their second journey is entitled David And Goliath Dub, a biblical retrospective mindblower taking you into the depths of the past. Jah Warrior is a well known UK based dub and roots fanatic. Here he contributes Prince Alla in dub -Our Father Dub, sparse Prince Alla vocals included here and the horns section sounds magnificent !
Further and deeper into dub....just follow trailblazer Kelvin R. !!
