The "Select Cuts From Blood & Fire" project is the "baby" of Nicolai Beveringen, who happens to be pressagent for B&F in Germany.
The second release on the "Select Cuts" label picks up where the first one left of: presenting remixes/reconstructions of reggae classics from the esteemed Blood and Fire label.
Blood & Fire - the world's premier reggae reissue label - generously provided the rights to their catalogue which caused quite a few first-rate dub and reggae loving artists and remixers to be more than just a little interested. They were given the unique opportunity to choose from the rich and fabled B&F archives and then produce a "reconstructed" version of their favorite track. Creativity and technical knowledge were called for - the multitracks of those titles disappeared years ago! The superstars of the progressive dub-dance-leftield scene rallied to pay tribute to their heroes and the result is a super-smooth ambient/techno/dance album, which will also appeal to most reggae fans with an open mind. Noteworthy tracks here are Don Letts' and Dan Donovan's contortion of Scientist's Step It Up, the masterfully reconstructed Rally Dub, the distorted version of I Roy's Look A Boom, Zion Train's slicing up Prince Alla's Great Stone and Kid Loco's unbelievable twist of the Morwells Morpheus Special.
