The highly infectious "Selecta" is the name of a brand new riddim produced by Frenchie for Pull Up My Selecta! (sister label of the producer's mighty Maximum Sound imprint), which previously brought the reggae massive juggling projects such as "The Mightiest Riddim", "Leggo Di Riddim", and "The Number One Station Riddim". Frenchie dug up the latter two in Bunny 'Striker' Lee's extensive riddim catalogue and gave them a new life. Also this "Selecta Riddim" has some involvement of the legendary Jamaican music producer. It's actually the drum and bass of an old Bunny 'Striker' Lee produced rocksteady riddim - a real challenge for riddim spotters to find the original one - to which Frenchie has added Dean Fraser's inimitable sax play, Robbie Lyn on keys and Dalton Brownie on guitar, in order to give it that authentic flavour.

Taking on the vocal duties are artists like Randy Valentine and Ras Demo aka Demolition Man from the UK, Sara Lugo from Germany and versatile Belinda Reid aka Shanty B from Jamaica. "Love Advocate" by the multi-talented Randy Valentine, who earlier this year delivered the noteworthy "Still Pushing EP", once again shows that he's a real fine vocalist worth hearing. A couple of years ago Sara Lugo was one of the most refreshing new faces that emerged in the European reggae scene. Meanwhile this songstress of German and Puerto Rican descent has released a self-tiled EP, two full length albums, solo singles and collaborations with Protoje, Lutan Fyah and Kabaka Pyramid to name three. On "Criminal" she's supported by Rory Stone Love, who brings in some dancehall vibes with his MC shouts. All in all a really nice effort that showcases Sara Lugo's unique, concise voice and soulful way of singing. Ras Demo's drive and energy can be experienced when you listen to "Feel The Vibes", a solid song that affirms his ability to seemingly effortless find his flow on any kind of riddim. Just like Randy Valentine and Ras Demo, Shanty B already voiced other riddims produced by Frenchie. Here she contributes a very satisfying conscious tune entitled Won't Be Denied. Well respected veteran musician Dean Fraser blows his heart out on saxophone on the instrumental called "Selecta Sax", a worthy closer of this juggling set.

The "Selecta Riddim" is another winner coming from ace producer Frenchie. Pull up my selecta! Wheel and come again!!!
