Trojan Records have released the fourth instalment in their series of budget-priced quarterly samplers entitled "Trojan Selecta". These compilation sets intend to present the highlights of the label's recent releases and tracks by Trojan artists touring in the UK. Thus "Trojan Selecta Vol. 4" concentrates on Trojan artists set to perform at the upcoming "Boss Sounds Reggae Festival" in Newcastle upon Tyne on 18th & 19th November 2006. Much like the previous three releases, the fourth in the series features a 'Who's Who of Reggae' and a spectrum of styles ranging from Ska to Dub through Lovers Rock and Roots. If you're a long-time reggae fan you'll probably be very familiar with almost every track included here and we're pretty sure you'll even have most of the tracks in your collection. However for those who are new to the genre, in particular the vintage sounds, "Trojan Selecta Vol 4" is not only a nice, but also affordable starting point. This decent collection of tunes will introduce them to bonafide classics such as Dave Barker's "Shocks Of Mighty", Horace Andy's "Skylarking", Derrick Morgan's ska hit "Moon Hop" and Lloyd Robinson's "Cuss Cuss", which was recorded at Studio One over Harry J's most enduring riddim.
